The Cycle of Life

In this installation, ‘Wood’ in the Five Elements is rendered with Lin Sha’s individual style of Chinese ink and bush, which philosophically, not technically, represents ‘nature’ in green while framed within the lighted boxes, a symbol of natural light and a necessary element for the growth of earthly kinds. On the ground, some dried leaves are paved to symbolize ‘Earth’. And here is a white fixture running into ‘Earth’, that is One ‘Pai’, which is believed to bring forth ‘Water’ as it integrates with ‘Earth’ in the Chinese divination. Thus, combining ‘Wood’, ‘Earth’, light and ‘Water’, this installation articulately reveals a message of the cycle of life.
